EU AI Act / AI Governance
Also written as EU AI Act, AI Governance, NIST AI RMF, ISO 42001
The rules and internal processes for using AI responsibly. The EU AI Act (in force since 2024, with obligations phasing in over several years) sorts AI uses by risk and sets requirements for high-risk ones such as hiring and credit scoring. NIST AI RMF and ISO 42001 are the frameworks companies use to organise their governance.
Think of it like
Building regulations for AI: what needs an inspection, what paperwork you must keep, and what's banned outright.
Junior or senior?
Relevant for AI policy, compliance and security roles, and for engineers in regulated industries. Recruiting AI itself is classed as high-risk under the EU AI Act.
Senior sounds like
Has done an actual risk assessment or produced documentation for a real system.
Ask them
“Which AI system did you assess, what risk level did it fall under, and what did the team have to change as a result?”
