Design Verification (UVM)
Also written as UVM, Universal Verification Methodology, Design Verification, DV Engineer, Functional Verification, Verification Engineer
Proving a chip design works before it's manufactured, by building simulated test environments that throw millions of scenarios at it. UVM is the standard SystemVerilog framework, and coverage shows how much has been tested. Often the largest group in a chip team.
Think of it like
Crash-testing a car thousands of times in simulation before building a single one, because a recall costs millions.
Junior or senior?
Junior sounds like
Writes test sequences in an existing UVM environment.
Senior sounds like
Built the testbench architecture and closed coverage on a block.
Ask them
“Did you build the UVM testbench yourself or add to an existing one, and how did you decide coverage was complete?”
