Red Hat OpenShift
Also written as OpenShift, OKD
Red Hat's enterprise version of Kubernetes, with stricter security defaults, a developer console and built-in build pipelines added on top. Popular with banks, telecoms and government, which want a supported product and often run it in their own data centres. OKD is the free community version.
Think of it like
Kubernetes as a fully fitted-out company car rather than the engine and chassis.
Junior or senior?
Experience transfers to plain Kubernetes and back, though OpenShift's stricter security defaults catch newcomers out.
Senior sounds like
Has upgraded or administered clusters, not just deployed apps onto one.
Ask them
“Did you run the OpenShift cluster itself or deploy applications onto it? What did an upgrade involve?”
