Pagination
Also written as Cursor Pagination, Offset Pagination, Infinite Scroll
Returning large lists of results in pages rather than all at once. Offset pagination ('page 5') is simple; cursor pagination ('after this item') stays fast and accurate on huge or constantly changing data.
Think of it like
Reading a book a page at a time, rather than asking for every page to be handed over at once.
Junior or senior?
Basic concept.
Senior sounds like
Knows why offset pagination gets slow and returns duplicates on large, changing tables, and has used cursors instead.
Ask them
“Why does 'page 5000' get slow, and what would you do instead?”
