WSGI / ASGI

Also written as WSGI, ASGI, Gunicorn, Uvicorn

The standard ways Python web apps connect to a web server. WSGI (with Gunicorn) is the classic, one-request-at-a-time model used by Django and Flask; ASGI (with Uvicorn) supports async code and WebSockets, used by FastAPI.

Think of it like

The plug standard between a Python app and the power supply; ASGI is the newer socket that can handle more at once.

Junior or senior?

Shows a Python developer who has deployed apps, not just written them locally.

Senior sounds like

Has tuned worker counts or diagnosed a stalled server.

Ask them

“How did you decide how many Gunicorn or Uvicorn workers to run?”
