C (Programming Language)
Also written as C Language, ANSI C, Embedded C, C Programming
A low-level language from the early 1970s that still runs underneath almost everything: operating systems, device firmware, databases and the interpreters for languages like Python. Programmers manage memory by hand, which makes it fast and also easy to get dangerously wrong.
Think of it like
Driving a manual car with no driver aids: full control, and every mistake is yours.
Junior or senior?
Not the same as C++ or C#, even though resumes and JDs often lump them together.
Senior sounds like
Has debugged memory corruption and can name the tools (Valgrind, sanitizers) they used.
Ask them
“Tell me about the hardest memory bug you've tracked down in C. How did you find it?”
