Client-Side Rendering

Also written as CSR

Building the page in the user's browser with JavaScript, after downloading a mostly empty HTML file. It is the default for classic single-page apps and the opposite of server-side rendering (SSR).

Think of it like

Shipping flat-pack furniture for the customer to assemble, instead of delivering it already built.

Junior or senior?

Usually appears in discussions of trade-offs with SSR/SSG.

Senior sounds like

Can explain what CSR costs in first-load speed and SEO, and when it is still the right choice (logged-in dashboards).

Ask them

“When would you choose client-side rendering over server-side rendering, and what does it cost you?”
