Legacy Code

Existing code, often old and poorly documented, that a team must maintain or build on top of.

Think of it like

Like an old house with outdated wiring and no blueprints on file — livable, but every renovation takes extra care to avoid surprises behind the walls.

Junior or senior?

Junior sounds like

Treats working in legacy code as a sign the job is undesirable.

Senior sounds like

Can describe what made a specific legacy system hard, and how they coped.

Ask them

“Tell me about a legacy system you had to work in. What made it hard, and how did you cope?”
