Visual Regression Testing
Also written as Visual Testing, Screenshot Testing, Chromatic, Percy, Applitools
Automated tests that take screenshots of pages or components and compare them with approved versions, flagging any unexpected visual change such as a broken layout or a wrong colour. Chromatic (with Storybook), Percy and Applitools are the common tools.
Think of it like
Spot-the-difference between today's screen and yesterday's approved one, done automatically on every change.
Junior or senior?
Shows a team that takes UI quality seriously.
Senior sounds like
Has dealt with flaky screenshots (fonts, animations, dates) and set up who approves intended changes.
Ask them
“How did your team stop visual tests failing on harmless differences, and who approved intended changes?”

- Common
- Visual Regression Testing narrows the field but doesn't prove depth on its own. The junior-versus-senior contrast above is what separates one candidate from another.
