Write Careers Page and Team Blurb Copy

When to use it

The prompt

Write careers page copy for {{Company Name}}, for the {{engineering team / a specific team}} section. WHAT WE ACTUALLY DO: {{the product, in plain terms}} WHAT'S GENUINELY DISTINCTIVE ABOUT WORKING HERE: {{be specific and honest — how you make decisions, how you ship, what you've deliberately chosen not to do, the trade-offs}} WHO THRIVES HERE: {{the kind of person who does well}} WHO DOESN'T: {{be honest — this is the most useful part}} TECH STACK AND HOW YOU WORK: {{stack, release cadence, on-call, remote model, how the team uses AI tools}} WHAT CANDIDATES SAY ABOUT US IN INTERVIEWS: {{the questions and doubts that come up most}} Write: 1. A short intro, under 80 words, that leads with the work. 2. A "how we work" section with concrete specifics rather than values-poster language. 3. An honest "this might not be for you if..." section. Then, separately: 4. Every claim in the copy, each paired with the specific example that backs it, or flagged as one I still need to supply. 5. The line in each section an engineer would find vaguest, with a sharper alternative. 6. Which of the doubts candidates raise in interviews the copy now answers, and which it still doesn't. Ban list: fast-paced, rockstar, ninja, family, work hard play hard, passionate, and any claim we couldn't back up with a specific example.

Tip

The 'this might not be for you if' section is the one that works. It reads as honest, and it deters exactly the applicants who'd have dropped out at offer stage anyway.

How to use it

Paste the prompt into ChatGPT, Claude or whichever assistant you use, then replace every {{bracketed}} part with your own detail. The more specific and messier your input, the better the output — a model given raw notes has more to work with than one given a tidy summary you wrote first.
