Reality-Check the AI and New-Tech Requirements in a JD

When to use it

The prompt

Check the AI and emerging-technology requirements in this job description for realism. {{Paste the JD}} LEVEL AND COMP: {{e.g. Senior, up to ₹45 LPA / $180k}} TODAY'S DATE: {{date}} Give me: 1. Every named technology, framework or technique in the JD that is less than about five years old, with its approximate release year. Flag any "N years of experience" ask that exceeds how long it has existed or been in wide use. Say where you're unsure of a date rather than guessing. 2. Requirement combinations that describe several people, such as model research plus production infrastructure plus frontend, or quantum plus machine learning plus cryptography, and which one person the team probably needs. 3. Tool names where the skill underneath is what matters, such as a specific agent framework or vector database, and a broader wording that doesn't shrink the pool for no reason. 4. Buzzwords that add nothing because nobody could screen on them, such as "AI-first mindset" or "passion for GenAI". 5. Any wording that's a legal or reputational risk, such as "digital native" or "recent graduate", which can screen out older workers, or a degree requirement that shuts out self-taught engineers without a clear reason. 6. A rewritten requirements section that keeps what's real and fixes the rest, with the original and rewrite side by side. Be honest if the JD is already realistic.

Tip

For tools under three years old, swap 'N years of X' for 'has shipped something using X, or similar'. Nobody can have five years of a two-year-old tool, and the candidates who can do the job will spot the error and trust the rest of the JD less.

How to use it

Paste the prompt into ChatGPT, Claude or whichever assistant you use, then replace every {{bracketed}} part with your own detail. The more specific and messier your input, the better the output — a model given raw notes has more to work with than one given a tidy summary you wrote first.
