Verbal Offer Call Talking Points
When to use it
Run the call that decides the hire, without burying the number or over-talking the close.
The prompt
Prepare me to make a verbal offer to {{Candidate Name}} for {{Job Title}} at {{Company Name}}. THE OFFER: {{base, bonus, equity with its terms in plain numbers, start date, level, title}} WHAT THEY SAID THEY WANTED: {{their number, and whatever else came up — scope, manager, remote days}} WHAT THEY'RE WEIGHING IT AGAINST: {{other processes, a likely counter-offer, staying put}} WHERE THE FLEX IS: {{what I can move, what I can't, and who approves it}} WHO ELSE THEY NEED TO TALK TO: {{partner, family, a mentor}} Give me: 1. The first thirty seconds, with the number said out loud early and plainly. 2. How to walk through the equity so it's understood rather than oversold: what it is, what it isn't, and what I should refuse to predict. 3. Three questions that surface a real hesitation instead of a polite yes. 4. Responses to the two objections most likely here, given what I've told you. 5. What to agree before hanging up: when they'll decide, what they need from me, and when I'll call next. 6. What I must not say, including any deadline on the offer that isn't actually true. Talking points I can glance at, not a script to read out.
Tip
Say the number in the first minute. Everything before it is half-heard by someone still waiting to find out whether this conversation is worth having.
How to use it
Paste the prompt into ChatGPT, Claude or whichever assistant you use, then replace every {{bracketed}} part with your own detail. The more specific and messier your input, the better the output — a model given raw notes has more to work with than one given a tidy summary you wrote first.
