Definition of Done
Also written as DoD
A team's shared, agreed-upon checklist for what 'finished' actually means for a piece of work (e.g. code reviewed, tested, deployed) — so 'done' isn't just a developer's personal judgment call.
Think of it like
Like a restaurant's plating checklist that has to be satisfied before a dish can actually leave the kitchen, not just whenever the cook feels like it's ready.
Junior or senior?
Junior sounds like
Says 'done' means it works on their machine.
Senior sounds like
Can describe a specific, team-agreed checklist — tested, reviewed, deployed — that has to be satisfied first.
Ask them
“What's actually in your team's Definition of Done, beyond 'the code works'?”
